3 wins from 4 this last weekend and the other result, a 1-1 draw for the EOL 1st XI (Marlowe), ensured we were undefeated. Dominic Barretts 2nd XI continued their goalscoring frenzy with a 7-2 win at Herongate res’s. Snellin (2), Stockholm, Bauckham, Conteh (2), Dobson and Doctrove on the scoresheet. The Vets A, having no game, promoted Mick Tarling to Supervets for their fixture against Horndon and he repaid their faith with a goal in the 4-1 victory. Martin Henderson with a brace and rare goal from the evergreen Stepano Fillippo making up the numbers. The Vets B gained another notable...

The EOL Res’s take centre stage this week following their 10-0 thrashing of Barnston Res’s in 1st round of the Essex Junior Cup. Goal scorers will be published on the Results page but I understand that player manager Dominic Barrett set three up. The EOL 1st team also had a useful league victory away to OC’s where goals from Josh Sumner (2), a stunner from player manager Luke Williamson and the winner from substitute Sam Lock. The Vets A completed a lifeless bore draw against Collier Row whilst the Vets B made it two in two with victory at home to Archers...

Match Report: 9th September 2017 – 1st Team

On Saturday we hosted Sungate who are newly promoted after winning Division 2 last season.  It was also our first game on the new 3G pitch we have moved to this season and,  as expected, was a very open game, end to end game for the whole 90 minutes.    Shenfield started off on top and had a few chances to take the lead which we then accomplished through good passing down the left hand side to which Ollie Dingli set up Will Marlowe for an easy tap in to go 1-0 up. Shenfield then kept the pressing the Sungate...

Match Report: 2nd September 2017 – Reserves

Shenfield 2nds began the season entertaining Springfield FC at the Drive. The aim was for Shenfield to carry on from where they left off last season, and they didn’t disappoint. Despite Springfield 1sts last year claiming the Premier Division title, and the club expected to field two strong squads this season, Shenfield on the day had too much firepower, and went in an impressive 5-0 up at half time. From the off , Shenfield were both organised and clinical,  having drafted in Tom Oliver and Chris Waterhouse to the backline,  in addition to those that had featured in pre-season, Matthew...

And so it came to pass….and with it Shenfields last shot at silverware. So the season concluded on a sombre note with the Vets over 45’s exiting the League Management Trophy at the Semi Final stage following a 4-0 reverse at the hands of Harold Hill. Now that the season has concluded it falls to me, on behalf of the Clubs Committee, to thank all those players, managers, officers and other non playing personnel in and outside of the club who have contributed in various ways to ensure that the season has been a success. Special thanks here to the laundry...

Luke and Kevin Williamson took charge of the final game of the season at champions Basildon and secured an unlikely 2-1 victory courtesy of goals from Josh Sumner and Alex Broadbridge in the last 5 minutes. The result meant that they finished in a highly creditable 3rd place in Senior Div 1. Not quite enough for promotion, but with the EOL due to discuss the divisional constitution for next season in the next couple of weeks who knows. Any how, well done to Luke and Kevin on what must be seen as a successful campaign and a springboard for next season where we hope...

Super Sub Bill Texiera  grabbed the headlines and the match ball on Saturday after smashing 5 second half goals as the EOL 1’s beat Newbury Forest 8-2. Jimmy “Basher” Brett, Josh Sumner and Will Marlowe making up the numbers. The win gives the 1sts an outside chance of finishing 3rd if they beat champions Basildon this weekend. John Hendersons Geriatrics saw off Old Parmetarians Res’s in another closely fought contest finally coming through 9-1. Perry Charles helping himself to 4 goals (although some say it should have been 44) with singletons coming from Jason Swan, Mick Tarling, Paul Allmark and a brace...

Goals from Terry Monksfield and Perry Charles were insufficient to beat Chelmer Vets as the Vets B concluded their miserable season following a 3-2 defeat. Well done to both Matt Reagan and Steve Holt in completing their fixtures in what has been a trying season. The EOL 1st XI travelled to London APSA in search of 3 points which would cement their position in the top 4, but had to settle for a point following their 3-3 draw. Will Marlowe bagging a hatrick for Shenfield in what we hope will be the first of many. The Super Vets will look to complete their League Management trophy match...

Two goals from Will Marlowe and further strikes from George Cunningham, Jimmy Brett and Alex Tredgett saw Shenfield comfortably home against Newham United who were without a recognised goalkeeper. Next up for the Williamson Sisters are Gt Baddow at The Drive this coming Saturday. With the Vets A games awarded to the home side following Old Parmetarians inability to field a side, it was left to the Super Vets to make it a clean sweep of victories which they were unable to accomplish following a 6-1 reverse at the hands of Chipping Ongar. That game concluded John Hendersons teams league campaign which...

Despite goals from Ben Absolon and Alex Tredgett Shenfield were unable to move further away from the drop zone as they went down 3-2 to fellow strugglers Old Chelmsfordians. The Williamson Sisters, Luke and Kevin, will be hoping to secure their Div 1 status with this Saturdays home match against relegated Newham. Dominic Barretts EOL Reserves dispatched bottom club Leytonstone 5-0 in their final contest of the season and in doing so secured  fourth place in the table. Only time will tell following publication of the league constitution whether that will be enough to bring promotion to Div 4. Goals from...

An under strength EOL 1st team squad travelled across the divide to play rivals Hutton FC and returned empty handed following a 3-0 defeat. Nuff said. The Vets A, on the other hand, smacked 7 past the hapless Hutton Old Boys goalkeeper. Gregory Campbell with a hat-trick, Agunbiade with a brace and further goals from King and Daniel Catterick (gasp, choke, splutter…) making up the tally. Hutton did trouble the scorers with 3 of their own. Dominic Barretts EOL Reserves bucked the trend by cruising to a 3-0 victory over Newbury Forest goals from Russell, Thwala and …. wait for it…....

Not a great weekend for Shenfields Fab Five with it beginning with the cancellation of the Vets B’s game against Catholic, which was probably the best result of the day. In the 4th round of the EOL Senior Cup Shenfield faced the mighty Frenford Senior, who occupied 2nd place in the Premier League. The teams were evenly matched on the 3G plastic at St Martins School with both goalkeepers keeping clean sheets going into extra time. Despite Frenford taking an early lead, Shenfields sub William Marlow turned the game on its head with 2 goals to put them 2-1 up...

The EOL 1st teams inconsistent season took another turn as they went down 2-1 at home to improved Runwell Sports. Jimmy Brett bagging the only goal.   In a ding battle against Pavillion Untd the vets Res’s still couldn’t get a win and went down by the odd goal in 7. Holt, with a brace, and Tarpling on target.   The Super Vets missing their disabled body keepers succumbed 3-0 to league leaders Frenford Untd.

WE’RE BACK !!

The club are pleased to announce the launch of its new website, courtesy of Mike Hudson, the son of one of our founder members, the legendary Steve “Huddo” Hudson, arguably Shenfields finest ever keeper. Certainly their finest cider drinker ! Please browse the site and if you have any recommendations or suggestions please e-mail them to me at the link on the contacts page. We will try to maintain the site as often as possible and will attempt to feature match reports from players and “ghost writers”. Which I might add will be vetted before publication in order to prevent...

Apologies for the intermittent posts on the clubs website. This is down to a firewall issue which only allows occasional access rights. To this effect we would welcome any approach from a web designer (we can pay modest sums for labour etc.) or company that would be prepared to construct a new site. Please contact me at mark.cantwell@tdsecurities.com for further information. This week saw a mixed bag of results with the stand our result coming in the Essex Premier Cup where the EOL 1st team beat Runwell Hospital 5-2. Scorers unavailable at going to press. Shenfield gained temporary bragging rights following their 2-1 victory over neighbours Hutton. Goals from Sumner and Texeira securing a 2-1 home win for the first time since the 2006/7 season. The Reserves failed to transfer their league form against May & Baker in the res cup and were dispatched 4-0, Although the scoreline did not reflect the nature of the game which was much closer than it suggests. The Vets A lost out by the odd goal in 9 (yes 9) against Harold Wood with substitute Ade Agunbiade  scoring a hattrick and Shenfield stalwart Robbie Edwards (aka Collins) bagging the other...

A good start to the season saw Shenfields Olympian league squad emerge with another brace of victories. The 1st team followed up their 3-1 cup victory against Ongar last week with the same score line against Galleywood. Bill Tex (2) and Josh Sumner with the goals. The EOL Reserves went goal crazy again and added a further 7 (to the 4 they scored against Hernogate last week) as they thumped Southend Sports without reply. Liam Snellin (4),  Terry Bauckham (2) and 1 from young Alex Tredgett (offspring of the infamous Darren – but with skill and height) making it a maximum 6 points for the res’s....
