Season’s End

First things first, we hope that those of you reading this post are all fit and well and continue to observe the social distancing measures that will hopefully lead to an end to this tedium. However, as you are no doubt aware the 2019-20 football season at our level has been abandoned with all records expunged and therefore no relegation or promotion. Sad though it is, we must remain positive and start planning for next season, whenever that might be.

The clubs committee will continue to work behind the scenes throughout what will be a protracted close season to ensure that we are all set for the big kick off.

In recognition of this we hope to be in a position to have a season social curtain raiser at the home of our new sponsors:- The Green Dragon in Shenfield. The date is obviously unknown as yet but you will be notified on here and via the newsletter or through your managers.

Whilst we look forward to the hospitality to be provided by Karen and her staff we must take this opportunity to thank Jerry, Leanne, Jack and the rest of the staff at the Eagle & Child for their support and hospitality these last 15 years. The pub and the people will be sorely missed and we as a club wish them well on their future endeavours. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.

We would also like to thank all those club members that attended the final gathering at the Eagle last month for the clubs annual quiz night. I great night was had by all with the club and pub enjoying receipt of your hard earned readies. The answers can be found here and congrats to Brownie and his merry band of men who scoped the first prize of £50.

The 100 club will continue throughout the close season as this provides much needed income at a time when we have lost over £1500 due to the early cessation of the season. Prizes will be posted on here and via the newsletter.

Finally, please stay fit and healthy and the Chairman and committee look forward to welcoming you all at the start of next season.
