The EOL 1st Team need another 3 points from their remaining 2 matches (both against Basildon) to guarantee promotion to the top flight next season. In a thriller at St Martins school, Luke Williamsons dynamic team scored 5 goals against fellow promotion contenders Ramsden Scotia with the visitors scoring 3 in reply in what turned out to be a highly entertaining game of football. The goals were evenly spread from defence to up front with Broadbridge, Hatt, Hobbrough, Day and sub Cunningham troubling the referees note book. A full house is expected at St Martins School this week as the 1st’s take on Basildon in what is the pivotal game of the season.

Nick Tucker took the plaudits this week in the Vets section as he plundered a hat-trick in Shenfield Veteran B’s game at home to Horminster as they signed off the season in style with a 3-2 win over the visitors.

The Vets A also completed their campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Collier Row. Ade Ademakinwa with the Shenfield goal.

Despite the absence of the young blood in the Super Vets John Hendersons team carried on their slaying of all around them following a 5-2 victory at Stansted.  The Hendersons were once again amongst the scorers; one from Martin and another from returning cousin Gary alongside goals from Carey and a couple of collectors items from Knighton and McWilliams.  2 more games remain for the Old Boys who demonstrated that they can still pack a punch even without the likes of Tarling, Swann and Campbell.
